How to reduce the QHY5's noise (step 2)

Choose the right software ;-)

 

    Another way to reduce the noise is to use a software filter. Qastrocam-g2 (link) now offers a noise reduction filter for the QHY5. This fitler uses the sensor's black pixels on each line to adjuste the black levels on these lines. Have look on these two samples :

 

     One second dark frame at full gain, without filter...

    Sure, we loose some dynamic, but the SNR is much better ;-)
